Sharon and Courtney - Miles for Maddy

Sharon and Courtney

Courtney and I are running the Disney Princess Half-Marathon in March. Why are we doing this? Partly for the personal challenge – I’ve always wanted to run a longer distance race. But, my main motivation is to do something to help Madison Faith. Her story is an incredible one, and since I’ve learned about her through Satori Martial Arts (where Tyler takes Karate), I’ve wanted to help in some way.

I am so very lucky to have two healthy children, one of which will run with me. My challenge is only to run 13.1 miles, while little Madison and her family have faced unimaginable challenges every single day of Madison’s 6 years.

My mom and I are training to run the Disney Princess Half-marathon this March. 13.1 miles! It seems like a long way, but we’re working up to it. When I learned about it, I thought it would be great for the personal challenge.

What a great way to get fit and have fun! Then I learned about Madison Faith, a 6 year old girl suffering from DiGeorge’s syndrome, which causes many and varied health problems. She’s suffers a lot, but keeps fighting. As we raise money for her, I continue to thank my lucky stars that my family and I are healthy and our bodies work fine.

So I will do my little part to help her, and feel great while doing it!
